This year (in lieu of trick-or-treating) we attended a "light party" at a local church. The kids had a great time playing carnival games and collecting lollies at the various craft tables. Everyone came home with a reasonable amount of candy... but in comparison to the heaps of candy that you get in the states... it was small.
In keeping with tradition, I ate my kids Halloween candy after they went to bed... don't judge. As it turned out Jude was equally as excited about the Haribo Starmix as I was. I got "busted" when the kids were packing their lunches this morning...
Jude got out his cute little lunch bag and started filling it with snacks for the morning. He "packs a lunch" every day, even though he usually eats at our kitchen table. He started searching frantically for his space gummies... and that is when I had to come clean.
I told him that I ate them and I was really sorry. He looked unbelievably confused and shocked... and then said with heart-piercing conviction
"Mom... YOU ate my special treat?!"
I felt really bad.
After he stopped crying I promised to get him a big bag of starmix gummies from the store (big enough that he won't notice if a few are missing... because they are really good).
So funny!
