Travel with kids - a series

Thursday, December 5, 2013

I have come to learn (in the past 18 months of planning, packing, moving, settling) that people are very curious about one thing... travel with kids. How does it work! What are the tricks? Where do you sleep? What do you do with a toddler? Was it as painful? How was the food? What did you bring in your carry-on? What do you wish you would have brought on your carry-on? What do you wish you would have left behind (not including your children)? Can you walk around? Were people mean? What toys were good? Did you use drugs... to help your kids sleep? How long was the flight? How long was the layover? Did they have good movies? and on and on and on...

I think it is fair to say that the curiosity surrounding this topic is trumped only by the anxiety about this activity. Travel with kids can be scary and overwhelming (even if it is just to the grocery store). Like all things, it gets easier with practice... but it also helps to have a few tricks up your sleeves.

I recruited eight of my "internationally-traveling-mom" friends to participate in a "series with friends" called... "Travel with kids". Hopefully their tips and trials will encourage and equip your family for adventures of your own.
