The New Zealand "bach" network is extensive. In lieu of expensive hotels, there are hundreds and hundreds of personal homes for rent throughout the year. Their are baches in the mountains, by the ocean, near rivers, on farms, and in the city. For our family of six, it is the most economical option for holiday travel.
Each bach has a unique personalities that, undoubtedly, represent the individuals who purchased and decorated it. Enjoying different homes across the country has been one of the highlights of our time here in New Zealand.
The Plum Tree Bach in Leigh was an artfully simple, comfortable and smartly designed home. I loved the wood floors, the hand-painted wall art, the 1970's National Geographic collection, sleeping under mosquito nets, waking to the sound of birds out the window, and the short walk to beautiful Matheson Bay. It was most likely the last bach we will stay in during our time here in New Zealand. A perfect home to end with.
