February

In February we made the long trip from New Zealand to Greenville, South Carolina via Los Angeles. To kill time and get over jet lag, we took public transport (2 hours round trip) from our airport hotel to the San Monica Pier. A good time was had by all... until the bus ride home. When we finallyarrived in South Carolina it was snowing. A bit of a contrast from the summer sun we left behind in New Zealand. When we arrived, we stayed in my parents neighborhood at homes of several (very generous) out of town friends. We spent the remaining bit of February recovering from travel and trying to get ourselves settled into our new (and very unsettled) life. Two of my dad's closest friends traveled from Texas  for a weekend visit. It was a pleasure spending time with them and great to see my dad enjoying their company.
